Senior Finance Officer
Role Overview:
The Senior Finance Officer at Ducit Blue Solutions/Ducit Blue Foundation is responsible for managing the financial operations, ensuring strong financial stewardship, compliance, and sustainability. This role also oversees payroll management, ensuring accurate and timely processing and compliance with statutory requirements. The position supports strategic decision-making through robust financial planning, reporting, and analysis, while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and donor guidelines, particularly within the global health and development sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning and Strategy
• Support the development and implementation of financial strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
• Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
• Monitor cash flow and financial performance, providing recommendations to optimise resource allocation.
2. Financial Management and Reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Ensure compliance with international accounting standards and local regulations.
• Conduct budget variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
3. Compliance and Risk Management
• Develop, review, and enforce financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax laws, donor requirements, and internal policies
• Prepare and coordinate timely internal and external audits, submission of annual tax clearance certificates in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage audits and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Oversee timely tax filings, PAYE, Pension and other statutory obligations.
4. Grant and Fund Management
• Track project budgets and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Support budgeting for grant proposals and funding applications.
• Track grant expenditures to ensure compliance with donor guidelines.
• Prepare financial reports for donors and funding partners.
5. Operational and Business Support
• Provide financial analysis to support programme planning and business development initiatives.
• Collaborate with programme teams to ensure efficient and compliant use of funds.
• Support financial aspects of procurement and contract management.
6. Payroll and Financial Administration
• Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timely salary payments.
• Ensure compliance with statutory deductions (Payee and Pension) and timely remittances.
• Maintain payroll records and coordinate with HR on staff-related financial matters.
7. Team Leadership and Capacity Building
• Supervise and support finance team.
• Promote continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
• Provide training and guidance to non-finance staff on financial procedures.
Quality Assurance: Contribute to maintaining high-quality standards in project deliverables. Perform quality checks on documents and materials to ensure accuracy and adherence, including client requirements, with an excellence mindset.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams within the Organisations, including media teams, data analysis, research, and client engagement teams, to ensure effective project implementation and optimisation of data use and reporting.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve project processes, tools, and efficiency, including through your continuous professional development activities. Suggest innovative ideas and best practices to enhance project management capabilities. Innovation and Business Development: Assist in identifying innovations and improvement opportunities to build the Organisations, including business performance tracking and opportunities for growth.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
2. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) is highly desirable.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO or global health sector.
4. Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting systems, and donor compliance requirements.
5. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
