Our youth personality peek of the week is Greatman Adiela Owhor, a Pharmacist, Philanthropist and Entrepreneur. He is the Research Coordinator for Innovamp Health Initiative and YPG Rivers State, Nigeria. He has led many research projects in digital health, public health and community pharmacy with more than 100+ citations to his name and for 2 consecutive years, his works co-authored with other researchers have been recognised among the top cited articles on Wiley Publisher.
Winning the Prestigious Princess Diana Award
In 2021, Greatman was honored with the prestigious Diana Award for his remarkable efforts in bolstering the capacity of health professionals to tackle the COVID-19 crisis in Nigeria. The project commenced in 2020, amid the height of the pandemic, when Greatman took it upon himself to spearhead a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at educating and preparing health professionals to combat the virus effectively. Through this initiative, he provided crucial information about the pandemic’s nature and preventive measures, equipping over 3,000 health professionals to discharge their duties with excellence.
Greatman’s dedication did not stop there. When the second wave of COVID-19 hit Rivers State, Nigeria, he assumed a pivotal role in leading local campaigns to address the surge effectively. His strategic guidance and efforts played a significant role in mitigating the impact of the pandemic on the region.
Ongoing Project
As an exceptional leader, Greatman’s dedication to improving clinical practice among pharmacists has been nothing short of inspiring. Collaborating with a team of distinguished pharmacists, Greatman set out to create a space where pharmacists could seek guidance and insights from their peers, thus enhancing their ability to address the health challenges faced by their patients. He recognized the need for a platform that could bridge the gaps in healthcare delivery, and CommCase, an avenue for community pharmacists to interact to address health cases was birthed.
